Bayer presents Climate Program to opinion leaders in Scandinavia

Bayer Climate Program in Oslo

Some 100 opinion leaders from Scandinavia gathered recently in Oslo, Norway, when Bayer presented its Climate Program at a symposium on Carbon Management and Reporting. The event was arranged by the leading Scandinavian business magazine MandagMorgen Norge.
“We at Bayer welcome the intensive global debate on the subject of climate protection. Such a big and complex challenge has to be handled together with industry not against it.” With these words Dr. Wolfgang Grosse-Entrup, Senior Vice President and Head of Environment & Sustainability, Bayer AG, opened his key-note speech addressing some 100 opinion leaders and decision makers from the private and public sector as well as academia and civil society. The symposium was MandagMorgen’s third in a series of six events dealing with climate issues.

According to Terje Osmundsen, editor-in-chief of the MandagMorgen Norge magazine Bayer also sets an example in tackling climate change for Norwegian companies, which are seen to be front-runners in climate issues. Thus Bayer’s comprehensive Climate Program “served as an inspiration to the world”.

Dr. Grosse-Entrup emphasized that now, more than ever, it was essential to step up climate protection. “We need a turnaround with CO2 emissions. And we also need innovative solutions to master the consequences of climate change,” he stated. “We at Bayer intend to make a specific contribution to this with our Climate Program.”

13 leading international companies in Norway have joined forces in the “KlimaGevinst” (“ClimateBenefit”) partnership, which has been initiated by MandagMorgen in other Scandinavian countries too.
